The Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the Petroleum Center of Excellence and Expertise, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sponsored a live webinar entitled, “Breaking the Cycle of Alcoholism”. The webinar, held on Thursday, September 22, 2016, was part of the committee’s Family Heritage Month highlighting “People: Our Most Valuable Resource”. The invited speakers for the webinar were Connie Wille, Executive Director of Champlain Valley Family Center (CVFC), a private, non-profit community-based organization dedicated to providing substance abuse treatment, prevention, education and related support programs to promote the well-being and quality of life for the residents of Clinton County, NY. Joining Ms Wille was Jacob Coulombe, Clinic Counselor at CVFC. The webinar focused on how to help friends and family recognize the warning signs of alcoholism as well as providing tips, guidance and resources available to help those struggling with alcohol abuse in their homes and workplace. Personnel from Customs and Border Protection throughout the nation were present at the presentation via internet link. A Center supervisor relayed her family’s generational struggle with alcoholism and shared a message of hope by describing her personal triumph over the disease.
